Terms of Service

Every project gets a contract of its own. These standard terms apply to all of them.

How these terms work

Each engagement is covered by a short contract that sets out its scope, price, payment terms and milestones. These Terms of Service apply to every contract. If a contract and these terms differ, the signed contract wins.

Timeframes and scheduling

Timeframes are good-faith estimates that start once we receive the materials and approvals we need. Cover and interior design first drafts are normally delivered in 48–72 business hours. Other services depend on complexity and are confirmed by your consultant within 24 working hours. Workload, client feedback times or missing materials may shift a schedule; if it changes, we will let you know in your contract messages. A revised estimate is not a breach of contract.

Payments

Payment terms are set in each contract: full payment upfront, 50% upfront and 50% before final files, or payment by milestone. Final files are released once the payments due have been received.

Reviews and approvals

You review each milestone in your portal and either approve it or request changes. An approved milestone is complete. Changes to scope, price or milestones after signing are made only through a signed contract amendment.

Your responsibilities

You confirm that the material you provide is yours or that you have permission to use it, and that it does not infringe anyone's rights or break any law. You are responsible for the final review of content, spelling and facts before approving files for publication.

Rights

You keep the rights to your work. Once full payment is received, the final deliverables made under your contract belong to you. We may show finished covers and titles in our portfolio unless you ask us not to.

No sales guarantees

We do not guarantee book sales, rankings, reviews, earnings or acceptance by any retailer or platform. Results depend on many factors outside our control.

Cancellations and refunds

Custom creative work is non-refundable once production has started. Assigned ISBNs and third-party fees are non-refundable. If you have a concern, please contact your consultant first so we can resolve it before any payment dispute or chargeback.

Limitation of liability

Our total liability under any contract is limited to the amount you paid for that contract. We are not liable for indirect or consequential losses.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the Province of Ontario, Canada.
